The Busan Modern History Museum has announced that it will hold its May monthly performance at the annex's multipurpose cultural space on May 25 at 4 PM.
The ‘Monthly Performance’ is a program that has been held every month since the annex opened last year, offering a variety of genre performances to citizens in Busan’s original downtown area.
This May, the classical guitar duo 'Polyphony,' consisting of guitarists Seo Seung-wan and Kim Kyung-tae, will grace the stage.
Polyphony is a well-loved team that showcases a wide range of genres, including classical music, art songs, movie soundtracks, popular songs, children's songs, and Korean traditional music.
The name Polyphony, meaning 'multiple voices in music,' reflects the duo's aspiration to pursue more three-dimensional musical __EXPRESSION__s.
Since forming in 2005, they have been actively participating in international music festival fringes, various guitar music festivals, and broadcasts. Notably, they were selected as 'Rising Stars' at the Tongyeong International Music Festival Fringe in 2012, 2015, and 2016.
Their albums include their debut record 'Song of Polyphony' (2011) and 'Song of Polyphony 2 [ROMANCE]' (2015), recorded at Herz Jesu Kirche in Wuppertal, Germany in the summer of 2013.
In celebration of Family Month this May, Polyphony has prepared a program that can be enjoyed by all age groups. The performance will feature pieces that reflect the meaning of family, starting with Henry Bishop’s "Home Sweet Home," Park Tae-joon’s children's song "Thinking of Brother," and composer and music producer Michael Hoppe’s "Beloved (Unconditional Love)."
Additionally, there will be a talk session where the audience can learn about Polyphony’s activities over the past 20 years as Busan’s classical guitar duo.
Kim Ki-yong, Director of the Busan Modern History Museum, said, “I hope you find a moment of peace listening to the gentle melodies of classical guitar at the Busan Modern History Museum annex.”
기타리스트 ‘폴리포니'의 '즐거운 나의 집' 등 가족 의미 되새겨 부산근현대역사관은 오는 25일 오후 4시 복합문화공간 별관에서 5월 월간 공연을 개최한다고 밝혔다.
‘월간 공연’은 부산 원도심에서 시민들에게 다양한 장르의 공연을 제공하기 위해 지난해 별관 개관 이래로 매월 개최되고 있는 프로그램이다. 이번 5월 공연은 기타리스트 서승완과 김경태로 구성된 클래식기타 듀오 '폴리포니'가 장식한다.
폴리포니는 클래식, 가곡, 영화 주제곡, 가요, 동요, 국악에 이르기까지 다양한 장르의 연주를 선보이며 대중에게 큰 사랑을 받는 팀이다. 폴리포니(Polyphony)는 ‘다성 음악’을 뜻하는 단어로, 좀 더 입체적인 음악적 표현을 추구하고자 하는 두 사람의 바람을 담고 있다. 2005년 팀을 결성한 이래로 국제음악제 프린지 및 각종 기타음악축제, 방송 등을 통해 활발한 활동을 선보였는데, 특히 통영 윤이상국제음악제 프린지에서 2012년, 2015년, 2016년 세 차례 걸쳐 ‘라이징 스타(Rising Star)’로 선정되기도 했다. 앨범으로는 첫 음반 ‘Song of Polyphony’(2011년)와 2013년 여름, 독일 부퍼탈(Wuppertal)의 ‘예수 성심 성당(Herz Jesu Kirche)’에서 녹음한 ‘Song of Polyphony 2 [ROMANCE]’(2015년)가 있다. 폴리포니는 5월 '가정의 달'을 맞아 다양한 연령대가 즐길 수 있는 곡으로 공연을 구성했다. 헨리 비숍의 '즐거운 나의 집'을 시작으로 작곡가 박태준의 동요 '오빠 생각', 작곡가 겸 음악 프로듀서인 마이클 호페의 'Beloved(조건 없는 사랑)' 등 가족의 의미를 되새겨볼 수 있는 곡을 준비했다.
또한 올해로 20주년을 맞이한 부산의 클래식기타 듀오 폴리포니의 그간의 활동상을 토크 시간을 통해 만나볼 수 있다. 김기용 부산근현대역사관장은 “부산근현대역사관 별관에서 부드러운 선율의 클래식기타 연주를 들으며, 잠시나마 마음의 안식을 얻으시기를 바란다”라고 전했다.
