Various Regional Business Connection Programs Also Available Busan city has announced that it will host the '2024 Busan Wheat Festival' from June 22 to 23 at the Hwamyeong Ecological Park Auto Camping Site and Lotus Flower Complex. The theme of this year's festival is 'Utopia for Wheat Enthusiasts,' highlighting wheat, one of the world's three major food crops, and opening a new chapter in culinary tourism. The subtitle encapsulates the event's purpose and venue, aiming to attract public attention. Based on the history of Gupo in Buk-gu, a major wheat distribution center after the Korean War, Busan city has integrated the recent trend of culinary tourism into a regional festival. The event will offer an opportunity to experience a variety of popular dishes made from wheat. The festival will feature a range of programs centered on wheat. At the Hwamyeong Auto Camping Site, the 'Wheat Lounge' will host the 'Wheat Food Shop,' where visitors can taste dishes made from wheat. The shop will offer a variety of foods from local eateries to Michelin Guide-listed restaurants, including pasta, gnocchi, ramen, milmyeon (wheat noodles), handmade burgers, makgeolli (rice wine), and wheat beer. The 'Wheat & Wit Concert' will also take place, delving into the world of wheat through diverse topics such as history, science, and art. Notable speakers include science communicator 'Gwido,' history storyteller 'Sunkim,' food columnist 'Park Sang-hyun,' and culinary researcher 'Hong Shin-ae,' promising a blend of knowledge and entertainment. Additionally, street performances featuring music and magic will be available. The upper part of the Hwamyeong Ecological Park Lotus Flower Complex will be transformed into a 'Picnic Lounge.' This area will offer wheat-related exhibitions, experiences, markets, street performances, and food trucks. The 'Street Food Lounge,' filled with food trucks, will allow visitors to enjoy a variety of foods, not just those made from wheat, in a relaxing atmosphere. The National Institute of Food Science will conduct exhibitions and lectures on Korean wheat, as well as various experience programs such as making wheat yakgwa (traditional Korean sweets). There will also be water sports, Nakdong River ecological tours, and noodle-making experiences at the Gupo Noodle Experience Center, among other regional connection programs. The festival will implement a 'pre-reservation' and 'self-order' system using on-site QR codes. Some menu items at the 'Wheat Food Shop' will be available in limited quantities, and a package featuring various foods from Michelin Guide restaurants and local eateries will be offered exclusively through pre-reservation. On-site, visitors can order food using QR codes and receive notifications when their orders are ready, ensuring a convenient festival experience. Park Geun-rok, director of the Tourism and MICE Bureau, stated, "Gourmet content is emerging as a highly potential urban tourism resource. We hope that the 2024 Busan Wheat Festival will establish the new trend of culinary tourism in Busan. 부산시는 오는 6월 22일부터 23일까지 화명생태공원 오토캠핑장 및 연꽃단지 일원에서 '2024 부산 밀페스티벌'을 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 축제의 주제는 '밀친자들의 유토피아'로, 을 연다. '밀친자의 유토피아'는 올해 부산 밀페스티벌 행사의 부제로, 세계 3대 식량 작물 중 하나인 밀을 중심으로 한 미식 관광의 새로운 장을 펼치며, 행사의 개최 의도와 축제 공간을 한마디로 압축·표현해 사람들의 이목을 끌것으로 기대되고 있다.
부산시는 한국 전쟁 이후 주요 밀 집산지였던 북구 구포의 역사를 바탕으로 최근 유행하는 미식 관광을 지역 축제에 접목했다. '밀친자의 유토피아'라는 부제로 개최되는 이번 행사는 밀로 만든 대중 음식을 더욱 다양하게 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 이번 축제는 밀을 주제로 한 다양한 프로그램으로 구성된다. 화명오토캠핑장에는 '밀 라운지'가 마련되어 밀을 주재료로 한 음식을 맛볼 수 있는 '밀 푸드 편집샵'이 운영된다. 이곳에서는 로컬 맛집부터 미쉐린 가이드에 선정된 맛집까지 다양한 음식이 소개된다. 파스타, 뇨끼, 라멘, 밀면, 수제버거, 막걸리, 밀맥주 등 다채로운 메뉴가 준비된다. 또한 '위트&위트 콘서트(Wheat & Wit Concert)'도 열린다. 이 콘서트는 밀 관련 역사, 과학, 미술 등 다양한 주제로 밀의 세계를 탐구하는 시간이다. 과학 커뮤니케이터 '궤도', 역사스토리텔러 '썬킴', 맛칼럼니스트 '박상현', 요리연구가 '홍신애' 등이 출연해 풍성한 지식과 재미를 더할 예정이다. 이와 함께 음악·마술 등의 거리 공연도 즐길 수 있다. 화명생태공원 연꽃단지 상부에는 '피크닉 라운지'가 조성된다. 이곳에서는 밀 관련 전시, 체험, 마켓, 거리 공연과 음식 판매 트럭(푸드트럭)이 운영된다. 푸드트럭으로 가득 찬 '스트릿푸드 라운지'는 밀뿐만 아니라 일반 음식을 즐기며 힐링의 시간을 보낼 수 있다.
국립식품과학원이 운영하는 우리밀 전시 프로그램과 우리밀 강연, 밀 약과 만들기 등의 체험 프로그램도 진행된다. 아울러 수상 레포츠, 낙동강 생태탐방선 운영, 구포 국수체험관과 연계한 국수 제면 체험 등 다양한 지역 연계 프로그램도 만날 수 있다. 이번 축제에는 '사전 예약'과 현장 큐알(QR) 코드를 활용한 '고객 셀프 주문' 방식이 도입된다. '밀 푸드 편집샵' 일부 메뉴는 한정 수량만 판매되며, 미쉐린 가이드 맛집과 로컬 맛집의 다양한 음식을 함께 맛볼 수 있는 패키지 상품은 사전 예약으로만 주문할 수 있다. 현장에서는 큐알(QR) 코드를 활용해 음식을 주문하고 알림톡을 통해 음식을 수령할 수 있어 편리하게 축제를 즐길 수 있다. 박근록 시 관광마이스국장은 “미식 콘텐츠는 잠재력 높은 도심 관광자원으로 최근 급부상하고 있다. 이번 2024 부산 밀페스티벌을 계기로 부산에 미식 관광이라는 새로운 트렌드가 잘 정착됐으면 한다”라며, “서부산권에서 펼쳐지는 이번 축제에 시민, 관광객 여러분들의 많은 관심과 참여를 바란다”라고 전했다.
