황인모 작가의 <라면 레포트>는 라면의 면을 사진적인 방법으로 해석하고 이해하는 사진 보고서로, 작가에 의해 이름과 의미가 부여되어 되살아난 면들은 작가에게 특별한 존재가 된다. <너도 꽃_라면 레포트’>展은 <끼니-라면 레포트>에 이은 두 번째 라면 레포트이다. 첫 번째 <끼니-라면 레포트>는 작가 본인의 당시의 삶과 연관지어 상당히 개인적이고 감정적이었지만, <너도 꽃_라면 레포트>는 라면을 객관적인 촬영 대상으로 보며 라면의 모양에 집중하였다. 황인모 작가는 생긴 모양은 보편적 라면이지만 각기 다름에 초점을 두며 기성품을 다르게 말하고 싶어하며, 라면이라는 대상 자체를 이쁘게 본다. 우리가 평소에 같다고 생각하는 동일한 이름의 라면도 그 생김이 모두 다름을 보여주는 다양한 라면의 세계를 사진, 설치작업으로 보여준다.</p>

Artist Statement :

사람들과의 관계 때문에 상처받고 힘들었던 시기가 있었다. 그 당시 대부분의 시간을 작업실에서 혼자 보냈고 유일하게 밖으로 나가는 일은 배고픔을 이기지 못하고 라면 몇 봉지를 사서 오는 것이었다. 이 시간이 한동안 반복되면서 자연스럽게 라면에 면의 생김새를 보면서 관심이 가기 시작하였다. 다 똑같은 라면이라고 생각했지만 같은 이름을 가지고 있는 라면도 그 생김이 다 다르다는 것을 알게 되면서 많은 생각이 들었다. 라면에 대한 나의 관심을 시인의 시를 통해 감정을 전달해 본다.

오래 보아야
사랑스럽다.

너도 그렇다.

라면을 보고 있으면 이쁘다. 그리고 보고 있으면 신비스러운 마음도 생긴다.그래서 사진을 찍기 시작하였다. 하나, 둘 촬영을 하다 보니 라면에 이름을 붙이고 싶어졌다. 이름을 붙이고 나니 그 라면은 이미 나에게 특별한 존재로 다가왔다. 우리가 주민등록증을 받고 사회의 한 명의 구성원으로서 자리 잡는 것처럼, 의미 없는 라면에 이름을 붙이고 나니 나와의 의미 있는 관계가 형성되는 특별한 존재로 자리 잡는 작업을 하고 있다. 이 작업은 단지 나의 라면에 대한 호기심의 보고서이다. 기성품으로 다 똑같은 라면이라지만 라면의 면을 사진적인 방법으로 해석하고 이해하는 나의 사진보고서이다. -2024 황인모

Hwang Inmo's Ramen Report is a photographic investigation that interprets and explores the noodles of ramen. The noodles, received with names and meanings by the artist, are transformed into entities of unique significance to him. is the second report of ramen, following <<em>Meal_Ramen Report>. While the first report, <<em>Meal_Ramen Report>, was highly personal and emotional, connected to the artist’s own life at the time, <<em>You, A Flower Too_ Ramen Report> takes a more objective approach, focusing on the figure of the noodles. Hwang Inmo focuses on the differences in the otherwise common appearance of ramen, seeing each one from a different perspective, and finding beauty in the very object of ramen itself, despite it being a mass-produced product. The exhibition presents a diverse world of ramen through photography and installation works, showing how even the same type of ramen can vary in shape and form, prompting us to reconsider our perception of sameness.

Artist Statement:

I went through a difficult time, feeling hurt because of my relationships with others. During that time, I spent most of my days alone in my studio, and the only time I went outside was when I couldn’t resist my hunger and went out to buy a few packs of instant noodles. As this tough period went on, I naturally began to take an interest in the shape of the ramen noodles. I used to think all ramen noodles were the same, but I realized that even those with the same name could have different shapes, and that got me thinking. I would like to express my feelings about ramen through poetry.

When I look at ramen, I find it beautiful.And as I continue to gaze at it, I feel a sense of fascination. This is why I began taking photographs. As I kept photographing one after another, I found myself wanting to name the ramen. Once I gave it a name, the ramen became something special to me. Just as we receive our ID cards and establish ourselves as members of society, naming what was once a simple, unremarkable ramen created a meaningful relationship with it, allowing it to become something significant to me. This is the kind of work I am doing.This report is simply a report on my curiosity about ramen. While they may all appear to be the same instant noodles, this is my Ramen Report, through which I interpret and understand the noodles from a photographic perspective.-2024, Hwang Inmo
